Privacy policy
Effective September 9, 2026. Applies to Sandpipers on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Windows and macOS, and to this website.
The short version
Sandpipers has no accounts, no ads, no chat, and no login. The game does not ask for your name, email, contacts or location. It sends anonymous gameplay analytics to GameAnalytics so we can see which levels are too hard and where the game crashes. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple or Valve, and we never see your payment details.
What the game collects
Anonymous analytics
The game includes the GameAnalytics SDK. When you play, it sends events such as level started, level completed, level failed, moon fragments collected, and app errors. Each event carries:
- a random identifier created by the SDK on your device (on iOS this is Apple's vendor identifier, which is specific to apps from this developer and is not your Apple Account or advertising ID);
- device model, operating system version, screen size and app version;
- session start and end times;
- the country and region derived from your network address by GameAnalytics when it receives the event. We do not see your network address.
These events are not linked to you as a person. We use them only to balance the game and fix bugs. GameAnalytics processes this data on our behalf under its own privacy policy.
Purchases
On iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, the full game unlock is an in-app purchase processed by Apple. On Windows and macOS, the game is sold through Steam and processed by Valve. Apple and Valve tell the game whether the purchase succeeded and nothing else. Your payment method, billing address and receipt stay with them.
Platform services
On Steam, the game uses Valve's Steamworks library to confirm ownership and to talk to your controller through Steam Input. It does not read your friends list, profile or Steam ID for any other purpose. On Apple platforms it uses no Game Center or iCloud features.
Saved progress
Your levels, stars and settings are stored only on the device you play on. They are not sent to us and do not sync between devices.
What the game does not do
- No accounts, passwords, names or email addresses.
- No advertising, no ad networks, no tracking across other companies' apps or websites. On iOS the game does not use the advertising identifier and does not request App Tracking Transparency permission.
- No precise location, camera, microphone, contacts or photos.
- No selling or renting of data. We share nothing with anyone except the processors named above, and only for the purposes named above.
This website
playsandpipers.com is a static site hosted on Cloudflare. It sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics scripts. Cloudflare may record standard server logs (network address, browser type, pages requested) to serve and protect the site, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your browser's request for the font files.
Children
Sandpipers is a general-audience game that families can play together. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. The analytics described above are anonymous and are the same for every player. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
How long data is kept
We keep aggregated analytics for as long as the game is supported so we can compare versions. GameAnalytics retains raw event data according to its own retention schedule. Nothing we hold can identify you, so there is nothing tied to your name to delete, but see the next section if you want to be sure.
Your choices and rights
- Stop analytics: deleting the game removes the device identifier it used. Reinstalling creates a new one.
- Ask us anything: if you live somewhere with data-protection rights, such as the EU, the UK or California, you can ask what we hold, ask for it to be deleted, or object to processing. Email us and we will answer within 30 days. Because analytics are anonymous, we may need the device identifier from your device to find any matching records.
- Purchases: refunds and receipts are handled by Apple and Steam, not by us. See the support page.
Security
Analytics travel over encrypted connections. We hold no passwords or payment data, so there is nothing of that kind to lose.
Changes
If the game ever adds a feature that changes what it collects, such as cloud saves or leaderboards, this page will be updated first and the effective date at the top will change.
